I have been on this earth for 25 years and I have heard thousands of stories. Some of the most impactful stories I have ever heard were from my time as a member of my university Gavel Club. Whether it's stories about family, achievements, or about a cat they had met on the street, the most captivating ones had one thing in common. They were stories that were close to the heart and shared a personal experience. For the past five years, I have been searching for ways to come up with similar stories and a few of my favorites are given below.

Take a walk down memory lane

One of the easiest ways to come up with a captivating story in my experience is to think back on all the moments you had in your life. You have lived in this world filled with weird coincidences and unbelievable situations. Try to think back to the moments where you felt a rush of emotion; whether it's joy, sorrow, rage, or excitement. It could be that time you aced an exam or won a competition, that moment your brother or sister stole your favorite toy, or even that one time you set your refrigerator on fire (Yes, I did that). All these moments have an instance of self-reflection, a lesson you learned, and something valuable to the audience. These are stories waiting to be told and admired.
